Community Participation Support
The purpose of the Community Participation Service is to broaden the types of life-long learning experiences available to individuals receiving services. Being involved in community life creates opportunities for new experiences and interests, the potential to develop friendships and the ability to make a contribution to the community.
Community Participation Service assists with:
- Developing and sustaining a range of valued social roles and relationships
- Building natural supports
- Increasing potential for employment
- Increasing independence
- Experiencing meaningful community participation and inclusion
Benefits of Participation:
Participation in the CPS program provides a wide variety of opportunities to help others in the community. It generates a feeling of accomplishment and camaraderie among participants. Individuals also have the opportunity to develop friendships with individuals in the community who they would otherwise not meet. Finally, individuals regularly receive public recognition for their efforts and contribution to the community.
